By 2013 there will be an estimated one billion HTML-5 capable handsets. As a result mobile development is a serious first priority. The web has shifted towards mobile browsing since 2008, allowing a better way of life for both creator and user.
After LinkedIn launched their new HTML5 based mobile web app in late 2011, their mobile development lead gave the following statement in an interview:
“The app is two to 10 times faster on the client side than its predecessor, and on the server side, it’s using a fraction of the resources, thanks to a switch from Ruby on Rails to Node.js, a server-side JavaScript development technology that’s barely a year old but already rapidly gaining traction.”
